The Roadshow publication by CNET reviewed the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E450 in a piece titled “It's good to be the king.” The review said the mid-cycle update solidifies the Mercedes-Benz E-Class line as the best in the mid-size luxury sedan segment.
Regarding the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E450, the sedan comes with a hybrid twist, combining a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with a 3.0-liter turbocharged I6. This is aimed at reducing fuel usage through the stop-in-motion function, also known as coasting, and extended stop-start times. Nevertheless, the engine is capable of achieving 369 foot-pounds of torque and 362 horsepower, and the review highlighted its copious low-end torque, which allows the sedan to quickly take off from a stop. The reviews goes on to rave about the E450's luxury-car experience, smooth handling, and new technology features, such as a touchpad in the center console. The only negatives were brief and related to the new steering wheel components, which include an easy-to-smudge black finish and a somewhat-difficult-to-adjust volume control.
